Things that make you go hmmm

President-elect Obama has broken his silence on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict saying that he’s deeply concerned about the loss of civilian lives in both Gaza and Israel. (If any of you know the number of civilian casualties on Israel’s side, please let me know. I’m finding it difficult to pin down.)

Speaking after Israeli tank shells killed at least 40 Palestinians at a U.N. school where civilians had taken shelter, Obama told reporters “the loss of civilian life in Gaza and Israel is a source of deep concern for me.”

He refused to comment further but said he’d have plenty to add after his inauguration. I guess that he can only talk about job creation and economics while Bush is still president. And while he’s only talking money, so is Robert Gates who estimates the 2009 war costs at $136 billion.

This really looks like change we can believe in, huh? Thankfully there are a couple of congressmen who get where we are and aren’t afraid to talk about it. Below are clips from Messrs. Kucinich and Paul.

  2. That one’s sort of more prevalent; I was wondering about Israeli civilians.

  3. If any Israeli civilians are dead due to those tiny bottle rockets, then they probably deserve to be dead.
