Republican presidential debate (Florida edition)
Wow, what a fucked up debate! Ron Paul didn’t get a question until nearly 15 minutes in. Huckabee should be doing stand-up with all of his jokes. McCain rivals Romney in the bullshit department. Arghhh, what does the sane American do in such a situation?
CHANGE THE FUCKING CHANNEL!
Obviously I’m not sane because I kept watching. Overall, I think Ron Paul did a great job with his 4 or 5 questions opportunity. The attack on McCain didn’t look like an overt attack but it successfully said, “You, Sir, are an idiot!” The question was one of Economics, sunshine and Executive Orders and McCain, as well as many Americans, was baffled. Don’t worry though; our friends across the pond are anxious to fill us in, if only we’d ask for the advice. (For some reason, the link provided to www.archives.gov with regard to Executive Order 12631 is no longer working. Go to http://www.reagan.utexas.edu/archives/speeches/1988/031888d.htm for the info the original link provided.)
The “mainstream” candidates blatantly aped Ron Paul’s recent Economic Stimulus Plan, and pretended that it was their own (though Giuliani actually was for Sarbanes-Oxley before he was against it years later and tonight). I think it’s fabulous that Ron Paul’s candidacy is changing the tone of the debate but I hate theft on every level. The offending candidates would be disciplined in the academic setting for the plagiarism they participated in tonight.
There’s also the whole was Romney fed questions concern tonight but truthfully, I may have been too tipsy to catch the original broadcast moment on DVR. I was playing a drinking game that wasn’t officially suggested and because McCain mentioned the bridge to nowhere so many times, I imbibed a little too much Gentleman Jack on the rocks.
Update (thanks to comments from the “Across the pond” linkie): I’ve just put on a tin foil hat and a push up bra but this statement was interesting:
How can the Plunge Protection Team’s actions be legal? It is against the law to act in concert with others to try to rig stock markets. Why should they be allowed to use public money to do just that? I hope people shorting the market who get hurt start a class action against the American government. Who the hell do they think they are?

Update #2: For shits and giggles, I decided to see what the gov found out about those shorts and found an answer at Snopes. They say the government investigation turned up a reasonable explanation of it all. Go check it out yourself.
