The lesson? Crime pays.

A Canadian court awarded a shoplifter $12,000 ($10, 645 US) as compensation for a lost tooth. From Yahoo News:

A British Columbia Supreme Court judge said that just because Daniel Baines admitted the store had a right to arrest him in the 2004 incident, it did not mean he lacked credibility as a witness about being beaten while being apprehended.

The shoplifter, who represented himself, admitted that he struggled during the arrest but said that the store used unreasonable force.

I think you should use the force necessary to protect your life and property. This idiot should not have been rewarded for his stupidity.
