How many legislators does it take to change a light bulb?
Really, I’m being serious here. Reuters reports:
A California lawmaker wants to make his state the first to ban incandescent lightbulbs as part of California’s groundbreaking initiatives to reduce energy use and greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.
The “How Many Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb Act” would ban incandescent lightbulbs by 2012 in favor of energy-saving compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
Now I am all for saving energy. I am, in fact, in the process of replacing my incandescent bulbs with the spiral fluorescent bulbs. The fluorescent bulbs are more expensive but are reported to last longer and use 25% of energy than their old fashioned counterparts. Believe me, after paying TX summer electricity bills that reached as high as $980, I will try anything. But, is another law really necessary?

Forget changing lightbulbs. Well, don’t forget that, it’s probably a good idea too, especially if you have a big house and pay those kind of energy bills.
How about changing the legislators.
Pass this on ….
